GreySmart

Welcome to the GreySmart web site.

Funded under Round 6 of the Smart Water Fund, GreySmart is designed to educate Victorians about greywater reuse; assist households in understanding greywater availability, uses and technologies available; and to provide necessary guidance on appropriate household products and chemicals.

GreySmart will provide the following:
  • Knowledge Hub - A one-stop-shop for Victorians to access information about what is required to be GreySmart. It will provide information about various greywater management systems available, garden design and management, current information about a wide range of products and services related to greywater use and management, guidelines, facts and figures as well as costs associated with becoming GreySmart.
  • GreyCalc - An intuitive web-based calculator tool which will utilise basic information from households about their home and garden to provide individualised assessments and recommendations for greywater generation and use.
  • Household Product Review – A scientific foundation is used to assess household detergent and cleaning products to ensure they are safe for the environment. This information is then presented in an easy to understand framework enabling householders to easily choose greywater friendly products.
  • Purple Pages – A directory listing of greywater friendly products, services and suppliers.
  • Grey Invest - Providing householders with the information required for them to evaluate how they may integrate all water resources available to the household (rainwater harvesting, bore water, potable water and greywater) and the cost effectiveness associated with them.
  • GreySmart Plumbing – Giving plumbers access to guidelines and support for designing and installing greywater friendly systems.
